85b.jpg 85c.jpg better date barber half dollar. but in this low grade is it worth more than melt value? the price guides list a G4 for this date at about $38.00. i would call this coin FA2 cleaned. i figure it is worth about $8.00. any opinions?

I'm not the best grader, and i could be wrong, but i would say that's closer to a g4- g6 than fa2

In my opinion the value is probably closer to melt rather than numismatic.

Looks to be about a G6 and I see nothing obvious in the images to suggest it has been cleaned. These coins often get a very light grey look to them when worn this much and retain little dirt. It is worth more than melt.

By how much of a margin would you estimate from melt?

I would guess this is a $25 or so coin, which means not much over melt in terms of dollars, but quite a bit over melt in terms of percentage value increase.

Definitely worth more than melt , as it is a better date . I'm in at G-4 .

I agree, and believe you'll find dealer to dealer pricing at $15-$20 (This week Grey Sheet = $15.50 ASK). JMHO

Where does you coin fit? You might be underestimating your grade.
