These 1899 series and 1923 series large format silver certificates are the las t thing I am going to ask for your opinion on for a while. They are circulated. Some more worn than others. There are more and larger pictures in a Flickr PhotoSet Here: Please check it out. Thanks again for your comments.
That top black eagle looks to be in really good shape, maybe VF or better, the bottom one not so hot but still collectable. The 1923's look to be a F and a VG. Just my opinion and I am not a paper guru by any means.
The black eagle on top is in about F++ condition and would be VF if not for the rust spots right in the middle. I would say about $165 depending on the signatures. The bottom note is definitely a lower-grade Fine as long as it just has creases and no rips, tears, etc. If the top has a rip, then it bumps it down to Good. Range is about $50-$85. As for the 1923's, top could very well be VF+ to XF depending on how "crispy" the note is and how noticible the creases are. Range should be about $75. Lower note is solid Fine and should be worth about $35-$45.
Thank you very much. I will be taking better pictures after my camera batteries recharge. The nicer Black Eagle is signed by John Burke and Houston B. Teehee which I see dates the bill between March 1915 and Nov 1919 The other is signed by Frank White and William S. Elliot dating it between May of 1921 and January 1922. This bill has a couple of pin holes in the upper left and some edge fray. None of the other bills have any tears. Three of the 1923 series are signed by Frank White and Harley V. Speelman Jan 1922 to Nov 1927. The fourth is signed by Frank White and Walter O. Woods Oct 1927 – May 1928. I found the date info here. Signature Combinations on U.S. Currency Any more info anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.
This bill seems to be generating the most interest. I have added larger and higher resolution images of this bill and the other Black Eagle dollar to the Flickr PhotoSet. The images are off of my flatbed scanner. PhotsShop stitched the images together and reduced the image size but did nothing with color, levels, sharpness or contrast. There is a high resolution image of this bill in the photoset too.
This is the best of the 1923 Series. I now have pretty decent images of all six large bills on the Flickr PhotoSet.
Hi to everyone.... would please someone tell me what this certificate may worth?? thanks in advence..
you should post this in a new thread. Welcome to the forum, but those pictures don't tell us anything.
hi hullcoins..... ty indead i had my problems to find my way.. lol... what kind of photos would be helpful to find out what the value of the certificate would be??
Much closer so we can read the signatures. I think the note is a Speelman White which is the most common. Basically take pictures that are in focus and crop out everything except for the bill. Thanks, Henry
hi henry.. first of all thank you for the time you take to help me.. i hope that these pictures are more helpful.. kindest... kaan
Well, I was right, it is a Speelman White note. Depending on condition, which looks to be very good, it can be worth some good money. Can you post more pictures like those of the reverse(other side of the note)
here is the otherside of the note.. what do you mean by it could worth some amount.. what would you approximately think that it could worth?
You want to talk to Dr. Kegg. I think it looks AU, some discoloration on reverse. If everything checks out alright $150-300. Really hard to tell from just photographs.
I have two of them in 65 so my grading and values are probably off. Search coins.ha.com under Fr. 236
wow... thank you for your help... how come that there are so huge price differences.... i mean i can understand if the note is new ore more used... but could it be that there is also pricedifference because of the registrationnumbers and so on?
