I am appraising some coins for someone at my church, and I found this in the bottom of the box... I have looked it up with no success... I would appreciate some help with the price! Thanks, Christopher.

That appears at first glance to be a $5 Liberty gold. No mint mark means Philadelphia. But we'd need better pictures of the obverse and reverse to tell you more, including whether it is real or not.

I don't see anything that screams counterfeit, but the photos aren't the best. It's a little less then a quarter ounce of gold, so you can start there with a base price.

Using the PCGS price guide, a ballpark figure -- real ballpark -- would be $350 to $400. I'm assuming a worn circulation grade due to the way it's been stored. It's not an uncommon coin and there's not much of a price difference between the circulated grades. If you were to sell it, though, you probably wouldn't get that much.

Probably around $350+. By the way, your profile says you are 116. That can't be your age, can it? There must be an error there. Ha, ha!

Sometimes their prices can seem a little high. But if the grade is correct, they are reasonably close.
