Hi, 2 cents represent a favorite series of mine, and this 1869 is a headscratcher as I cannot tell if this a proof or Business Strike, and whether the color is natural. This coin is in a capital holder for the 1864-72 years. Longcare doubling is an issue I am familiar with, but is there a PUP for a doubled die at the D of United and S of States?

Looks like a Business strike based on the Photos from PCGS of the Proof specimens in my opinion.
    Very well struck coin!! thumb.gif

Looks like a business strike to me, though I could be wrong.

I like the color. Handsome coin.

Very nice coin, but the denticle weakness @ 5 o'clock on the reverse makes me think that it's a business strike.

Based on the rounded rims (not square rims), I'd say business strike.

Business strike. It’s well struck, but Proof coins are sharper.

As for color, there’s a better chance that it’s original, but it could be some retoning at a dip. Unless there is a lot of luster under the toning, it would not be a Two Cent piece for me.

Nice looking and a definite business strike. Looks like it has a die crack and a die clash. No doubling on the coin.

Business strike. I think the color natural or an old retoned dip. Tough to tell from pics. Likely market acceptable regardless. It’s also got heavily clashed dies that wouldn’t be seen on a proof
