I like US currency but will admit that my knowledge of it is not super strong. My wife's grandmother recently passed away and when going through her stuff her mom came across a few US notes.

I believe this is a 1863 10 Cent Green Reverse note (1255). Any help on authenticity and value would be appreciated. As much as I enjoy paper currency, this is outside my knowledge.

Certainly, looks real. Once again, I would check Ebay sold item sales. I did find one at Ebay around the same quality selling for around $80.

It certainly looks like the real thing to me and it’s from the Civil War era. Please protect it.

I was in to fractional notes several years ago
and in most series high grade examples are
hard to come by, why you may ask ? one of the most important factors is nice even boarders since most fractional notes were
basically cut using no more then a pair of scissors so accuracy wasn’t a high priority !

This ten cent note was part of the third series of Fractional Currency notes. If you are a purist, you will call it the second series because the first series was known as postal currency.

I am not up on the value of these pieces. I formed this collection in the late 1980s and have not added to it in a long time. I get them out to admire now and then since they were a part of the Civil War era.
