I'm hoping that somebody knowledgeable in capped bust half dollars can tell me if this coin has large or small letters. IMG_20201018_175028_HDR.jpg IMG_20201018_175046_HDR.jpg

There are a few major varieties of the 1830 Capped Bust Half Dollar. The two major varieties deal with the size of the "0" in the 1830 date. One variety has a smaller and shorter "0" with more spacing between the number and the liberty bust portrait.

Thank you. I do see that description in my red book however it also lists a large letters variety but doesn't show photo examples of the difference.

    I'm thinking it's O-115, small O.
The crossbars in the shield slant upwards to the right more than other reverse dies.

There is a large letter reverse variety for 1830--the O-114. It is probably the easiest eyeball Overton die marriage to identify for the year as the letters UNITED STATES on the reverse run together and appear to be one word. Although I do not have an example of the 1830 here is the same reverse die when previously used on the 1828 O-122
