Hi all, I've had these 2 coins since about 1969 and I'm not sure how to tell if either are the real deal or?? I certainly welcome all comments and opinions. Thanks

The die markers are not present for the bar cent,so that one is no good.

The 1776 looks to be an electrotype copy of a fake

Thanks. Do you know sites where I can learn more about these regarding your info? I don't know what an electrotype copy of this coin is or about die markers. I'm lost on these 2. Thanks again!

Thanks again, No need for explanations on die markers as I am now reading about what you mean about the central die crack and spur on 2nd bar. Thanks

Die marker is a consistent mark (tie die chip, die scratch act.) on the coin. The Bar cent should have 2 spikes the come off the bars which are not present

I believe both are older electrotype copies.

Both are replica coins in my humble opinion.

You will need to post images.

And yes, both "coins" in the original post of this old thread are fake.

Post some pictures of your coins and someone will be glad to help. If your "1776" coin matches the one in this thread though, it is a fake.
